Springtails at Bradbury Rings, louse and a mite.
On Saturday I visited Bradbury Rings, hoping to, but not finding any Snowdrops. However when looking at a large tree stump of a recently felled tree (which I was looking at to roughly see how old the tree would of been), I spotted some small Springtails. In fact not just some Linear ones, which I’d seen before, but some globular ones. Spent quite a while chasing them and what I think is a small Hard backed tick about the stump with my Canon 50D and Canon MPE-65mm lens.
160 odd images later I left to whittle them down to 10 or so at home. My personal pick of the shots are shown next.
Globular Springtail at about 2 times magnification, on Canon 50D with Canon MPE-65mm. F11 ISO 400, Flash manual 1/8th power from Canon MT-24ex Macro Flash.
Globular Springtail at about 3 times magnification, on Canon 50D with Canon MPE-65mm. F11 ISO 400, Flash manual 1/8th power from Canon MT-24ex Macro Flash.

I also took a small woodlouse on another stump which I stacked 3 shots together later in Helicon Focus (method B).
