Blue Monday
After a very wet morning on the Bank Holiday Monday 7th May, the weather brightened up, with even the sun making some fleeting appearances. I decided to visit Garston Wood to see how the poor weather had been affecting the spring flowers. The cold weather had damaged some of the flowers, but there was still a nice showing, with the bluebells carpeting the ground with the Arium now showing too. In addition some Early Purple and Fragrant Orchids are now starting to show.
Here’s a bluebell that I found in a pleasing position with some stitchworts out of focus behind them.

Shortly after taking this shot I spotted a Small Blue Butterfly on a nearby Bluebell. Both the following shots were taken with the aid of a tripod to counter the movement of the subject in the wind.

The final image from the trip is a unusually light pink Early Purple Orchid. Again taken on a tripod in natural light.
