Welcome to the Globby Universe
The Globby Universe is not something you will find in outer space – but under your feet. For these globular springtails ( globbys ) are tiny, only 2-3mm in size. So a large leaf takes on a small hill to them.
Here is one just resting before an adventure – this is a Dicyrtomina saundersi for those that wish to know the species name. At least I think it is 🙂

Just chilling on some wood
When along came some lava ( no idea how that got there! )

So our globby had to go seek some higher ground…which meant climbing along the precipitous bark ridge.

Before entering a gloopy swamp…

Eek! a Giant Louse! Run or Jump anywhere!

Then over some strangely pink landscape ( me finger )

What’s this strange landscape ?
Before finally finding another nice place for a breather.

What is this – another globby! Purple Globby aka Dicyrtoma fusca

And these globbys have some relatives that are well – not globby. These are the Elongated Springtails, and nearby these were these two cousins.

I hope you enjoyed a brief afternoons trip into the Globby Universe at Ramsdown, Hurn UK.
