Shield Bug and Spider at Garston Wood

Took a visit on Saturday to Garston Wood for the second time this year.  It’s starting to come into it’s own now for bugs and flowers.  The bluebells are now showing, though the wild garlic is yet to flower.

Saw several copper tip butterflies about, but none wanted to pose.  Also noted a Peacock and some Speckled Woods, again being the afternoon they were overly active.

I did however manage to find a co-operative Shield Bug amongst some leaves and managed a couple of pleasing shots on the MPE-65mm.  Flash used in manual mode at 1/16th power plus diffusers.  Both shots at 1x mag F11.

This first shot is my personal favourite, with the bug climbing up the plant leaf.

The second shot is more head on, which I feel seems to be creeping out of the jungle…

In addition to these shots of the shield bug, I also managed a reasonable shot of a small about 5mm spider at 3x Magnification.
