Dancing Paint 2012
I finally managed to get equipped for taking some Dancing Paint images, after experimenting last winter time. I completed my build of a HiViz MultiTrigger, purchased an additional Speedlite ( I now have two), and an ST-E2 controller for the camera. This allows me to trigger the camera when the sound is played on the speaker (causing the balloon to vibrate), and the camera triggers the flashes. Flashes set to -3 ETTL power, and camera has -2 Flash Exposure dialed in. The camera triggering the flashes allows me to work in the light.
From my first proper session this evening ( shooting around 200 images – most binned!) I have a few that I am pleased with. These two being my current favorites. More experimentation is needed on paint viscosity, but that’s for another evening.
Dancing Paint Landscape. Taken on Canon 50D with Canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro Lens. ISO 100 1/250 F16. Flash from two Canon Speedlites, controlled by ST-E2. Triggered via HiViz multitrigger trigger.
Dancing Paint Portrait. Taken on Canon 50D with Canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro Lens. ISO 100 1/250 F16. Flash from two Canon Speedlites, controlled by ST-E2. Triggered via HiViz multitrigger trigger.
On the following evening I decided to try again, adding some washers to the paint. I have seen some done like this, by others that make the washer look like a flower head on a stalk of paint. I’ve not managed that yet, as I think I need to sort out the viscosity of the paint. However I did find these three images pleasing, none the less.
Dancing Paint & Washer Blue. Taken on Canon 50D with Canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro Lens. ISO 100 1/250 F16. Flash from two Canon Speedlites, controlled by ST-E2. Triggered via HiViz multitrigger trigger.
Dancing Paint through the Ring. Taken on Canon 50D with Canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro Lens. ISO 100 1/250 F16. Flash from two Canon Speedlites, controlled by ST-E2. Triggered via HiViz multitrigger trigger.
Twin washers and pink paint. Taken on Canon 50D with Canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro Lens. ISO 100 1/250 F16. Flash from two Canon Speedlites, controlled by ST-E2. Triggered via HiViz multitrigger trigger.
