Blashford Macro
I took a trip to a local nature reserve (Blashford Lakes) on Saturday, with my macro lens on the hunt for some insects, and also to look for some reported Bee Orchids. I also had a tripod handy ( my brothers 🙂 ) – so was also able to shoot some video, as you can see. The short video features what I believe is an Alder Sawfly Larvae munching on a leaf, the Bee Orchid and a pair mating Azure Damselflies.
As well as the video, I also took the following still shots, all in natural light. Some on a tripod, some handheld. The Bee Orchid, I took and videoed on my new mini tripod ( it fits in a pocket ) – A Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod. I found it fine, for landscape shots, but for portraits it really needs a small ball head for the camera to get full 90 degrees on.
