First MPE Macro outing 2015

After shooting the Snowdrops, I moved on to hunting much smaller things.  In early February, that means looking under dead wood and leaves and seeing what you can find.  Armed with my Canon high magnification macro lens – the Canon MPE-65mm (1-5x Magnification) and MT-24ex Twin flash (Poppadom diffuser used), the search was on.

The first thing that caught my eye was some micro fungi, which to the naked eye, just looked like little white dots.  Viewed through the lens at about 2.5x Magnification, they looked more interesting – like tiny mushrooms.

Under some leaves, I came across a beetle larvae, which then decided to play dead.  So I moved it on top of the log in some moss, where it remain still for a few moments, before reviving itself and scurrying away.

The first shot is at 1x magnification to show the whole of the larvae.

Next up a couple of linear Springtails that I found at the end of the visit.  Both these have some Topaz Detail and Restyle post processing on them.

The last one is a slight crop.  Both around 2x Magnification.
