A trip to the New Forest, on the first of November, called for some finding and shooting of the fungi that was abound.  I used two tripods, my Manfrotto Befree and I also tried out a borrowed Manfrotto Pixi Evo.  The second to see if this was better than my existing Manfrotto Pixi mini.  And the answer was YES! As it managed to hold my Canon 760D and Canon 100mm Lens firmly and stably in the landscape orientation without me holding it.  However the weight to my kit caused the tripod to tilt down towards earth when put to the portrait orientation without holding it.  I think this could be good in reasonable light, as you could support the tripod, either by holding or maybe using a prop like a bean bag.

Anyhow onto the shots of the fungi from the trip.

All the above were single images taken with the Canon 100mm Macro Lens – this next one is a stack of two shots.

And finally one not from this trip – and not on a macro lens, but I post it here as I think it is a fairly interesting fungi.  An Earth Star – taken on a 500mm lens, at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserves, at the edge of the forest.
