Topaz Restyle First Look

As a fan of TopazLabs plugins, I recently noticed that the Restyle Plugin was on offer in February.  I decided to have a go at it after looking at some blog tutorial articles, to see if it would be of any use to me.

Having gone out on a first macro trip to Garston Wood, I decided my first play would be on a Snowdrop image.

The one I chose had a background that I thought might work well with the plugin.  Here is the before image.

I then uses a subtle Restyle effect to make the background more coloured.  The plugin has easy to use sliders to adjust the effect, as well as different blending modes & opacity adjustments to adjust the look and strength of the applied effect easily.

Additionally there are lots & I mean LOTS! of presets.  Fortunately they are devided out into categories, and a handy grid preview is available to show several on screen at once.

The final nice thing is an in built masking tool that allows you to have some of the image not take the effect.  In the image below I masked out the two more prominent snowdrops.

Here is the result.

I've been taking macro photography from 2004. I use both Canon film and digital cameras.

Well done chris. Certainly has made a better image. Look forward to more shots.
