Arachnids & Collembola

For the second day in a row I went hunting in the decaying wood and leaves.  This time I visited Ramsdown Nature Reserve near Hurn.

Today’s finds were some Collembola ( Springtails) and some Arachnids ( Mites, I think ).

For the first time I found a purple coloured globular springtail ( Symphyploeona ), here it is – the first I think really looks a bit sci-fi 🙂

As well as this more common to me yellow and red version.

As well as the globular springtails, I also took this elongated-bodied (Entomobryomorpha) springtail.

Onto the Arachnids – I found a couple of mites on a peice of bark.  Here they are.
