Digging in the Woods

I went on a macro hunt, in the leaf litter today, with my Canon MPE-65mm lens.  I call it going digging.  In reality it is looking under old decaying sticks, bark, logs, as well as digging in the fallen leaves.  It is amazing what tiny and minute things are right under our feet.

Here is a centipede that I found on the underside of a piece of rotting bark.

And a high magnification shot of just its head ( about 4x magnification on the lens).

I also found this early instar earwig.   I took these shots of it around 2x magnification on the lens.
