Kilwood in the Rain
Took a short visit on the afternoon of the 30th May to Kilwood, nature reserve after heavy rain during the day. It was still showery and overcast, which whilst not conducive to some styles of macro images, did have the effect of making the damselflies static due to the rain.
The first subject I took on a tripod low down to the ground, which was necessitated by poor light (1/10 sec at ISO 400 and F8). I got two shots of the subject which I think is a Common Blue Damselfly – male.
I like the helicopter effect of its wings in the first.

The next shows the conditions and the damselfly markings more clearly.

I also found in better light a female with a droplet forming a hat on her head – do you like her hat ?
