A Play with Pink Card
Took another visit to White Mill on the weekend, visiting first on the Saturday (21 April). I decided to take some pink card for proping up in the background, to give a different coloured effect to the insect shots. I was hoping for some bees, but the cold damp weather seemed to of put most of them off. However I did find one Solitary Bee that would pose, and later a tiny Nomada Bee drinking Nectar in a flower. The most obvious use of the card is in the fly shots however when it takes the place of what would be a black background.
The black background would occur as there was nothing behind the fly for the light from the flash to illuminate – so it would go black. In this and the Solitary Bee shot I’ve got the pink card mounted on a couple of pegs (which were stuck into the ground on this occassion. The pegs are just normal washing clothes pegs.
I hope you like the effect this gives.
