Slop Bog Visit

I took a visit to Slop Bog on the 9th June, another cold (but a least dry day).  The ground was much more in resemblance to a bog than last year – when it was more dried heath.  A few lizards were sunbathing on the boardwalk, legging it over the side when you walked nearby.  The poor weather was limiting the dragonfly sightings too, the wind was I think putting them off from posing nicely.

As a result the first keeper photo I got was of this which I believe now to be a Kleidocerys resedae Birch Catkin Bug.

Eventually near the end of this visit I managed to hunt down this broad-bodied chaser, in the heather.

I also got up close and personal with it.  This image looks as if the dragonfly is trying to punch the lens out of the way.
