Flies, a Spider and the small things on a waterbutt lake
A mixed bag of macro photos in this post, from several locations.
Firstly two types of Beefly taken at High Wood, near Bradbury Rings.
First Bombylius discolur or the Dotted Bee-fly
Then Bombylius major firstly posing on a tree at, before taking off as I fired the flash a second time.
And then a close look at 3x Magnification at its eyes when it relanded.
Also while there I spotted this mountaineering spider on my mat.
Then onto location number 2 – Blashford Lakes, where I found this St Mark’s Fly on some nettles.
Then in the backgarden, the waterbutt had what to some small creatures must resemble as small lake. I’m not sure what this ant was doing – or even if it was alive.
Whereas the tiny water walking springtails were definitely alive and wandering about. This image is a composite of 3 seperate shots.
All images were taken on my Canon 5d MkIV, Canon MPE-65mm lens with Canon MT-24ex Twin Flash.
