MPE-65mm meets Canon 5D MK IV
Whilst taking the snowdrops – I also used my Canon 5D MkIV with my Canon MPE-65mm Macro Lens. This is the first time I’ve used the lens on a full frame camera. It will be good to use I think this year with it, as I will be able to fit more in the frame of the shots – probably even some small butterflies at 1:1.
The first attempt was on some Springtails that I found on some old decaying wood nearby the snowdrops. I lit these with my Canon MT-24ex twin flash. All these images are around 2-3x maginifcation.
This linear springtail was the initial one that I found – and when proccessing the image later – I saw the second smaller one underneath it. It being so small I did not spot it in the field.
The second one that I found was on my mat that I use to lay on in wet or muddy conditions. I aided viewing it through the lens by shining a small Led torch near it.
I look forward to more experiments with this setup soon.
